Travel shapes us, opens our minds, and leaves lasting memories. Inspired by this shared experience, we created the Little Suitcase of Memories initiative, a project through which our guests help bring the joy of travel to the children of the Maestral Children’s Home.
Every year, nearly one million visitors from around the world come to Split. Even though they return home with memories of the Adriatic Sea, sun-soaked days, and the relaxed Dalmatian way of life, those memories now can be even more meaningful.
In collaboration with the Maestral Children’s Home, we launched an initiative that lets guests take home not just memories of their stay in Split, but also the joy of having made a positive impact, helping children who grow up without adequate parental care.
The Maestral Center takes care of 160 children, and one of the most valuable experiences we can give them is travel. Travel gives children new experiences, learning through play, the opportunity to discover different cities and cultures and most importantly the chance to create memories that last a lifetime.
That is why we launched The Little Suitcase of Memories initiative. During their stay at our hotel, guests can make a symbolic donation of at least 10 euros, dedicated exclusively to funding trips and excursions for Maestral children in Croatia and abroad.
Donations are made easily at check-out, with no additional forms, QR codes, or complicated procedures.
Although the initiative has only just begun and is planned to run for one year, with the possibility of continuing, the first little travelers have already taken their first journeys and returned with unforgettable experiences. Recently, a group of children from Maestral went on a trip to Zagreb, where they explored museums and landmarks, and participated in a variety of fun and educational activities.
This initiative is open to others who wish to be part of it. We believe in the power of community, which is why we invite other hotels, private accommodations, travel agencies, and individuals to join us in filling children’s suitcases with new journeys, experiences, and memories.
